Cash-Romantic Band, FEEDBACK FANZINE #85, Kev Rowland
There is just so much music coming out of Poland at the present, and CashMERE are another act to follow. This is a three song demo CD, and the band has just gone into the studio to record their debut album which they hope to have available at the beginning of next year. Tylda Ciolkosz is the leader of the band, providing both vocals (in English) as well as some strong dynamic violins. Even with only three songs to listen to this time around it is possible to see that these guys have a breadth of talent and sounds. "Songs For Narcissus" starts with a call and response from the violin and guitar before settling into the vocals. When it comes down to describing the style of music these guys don't seem to mind what you call it.
On their web site they state "A one-girl violin ensemble, acoustic and electric guitars, suave rhythm section and a voice that can tell as many good tales as bad jokes, Cash is a band like no other. You can call it what you like. Call it folk or call it prog, porn-groove or lala-rock. Call it pop, we will not mind. Gosh, you can even call it jazz, if you don't know any better. Compare it, contrast it, believe it or distrust it. But whatever your verdict and your reaction, Cash will go its own way and do whatever it pleases." These three tracks show a lot of promise and I for one will be looking forward to the debut album with interest as this is music with intelligence that doesn't fit into any of the normal boxes.
